Assignment#24: "TED"

During the TED talk, I was shown many photos which helped to answer the question, "How does photography connect us?" During the talk, David Griffin showed photos from around the world and then explain them and how they were taken. Photos of the animals in the wild had to be taken without the photographer, so that the photos would show the animals in their environment. The photos that showed the poverty in a city, made it easy to see the pain that went along with living there. The houses and buildings were all boards, instead of concrete. These photos showed me how lucky I am to be living here, and how I should donate more so that hopefully, one day, they may be able to live how I do. Photography is a great way to show photos of other places to people that don't travel that far. These photos help to show the problems that are going on in different countries. They are then able to see how real something as big as poverty, or killing elephants for their tusks, can be. Peop

Assignment#22: "Triptych"

Image
For this assignment, I want to show a student who is stressing out. In the first photo, it will be the student doing their homework. The second photo will show a dog coming over to them. And the last photo will be the dog cheering up the student. I want to do this as my triptych because it's easy to be stressed and overwhelmed with school and other things. But from what I've seen, dogs can easily help relieve stress and overall make people happier, even when they are doing something as hard as homework. Assignment#21: "Me, Myself, and I"

For this project, I was thinking about doing a family portrait, but that idea didn't work out. I also had another idea before that, to get me walking up stairs, which also didn't work. My final idea was to do something in the sculpture room of me in different places. Here is the final photo: I like this idea because it's easy to see my personality through these photos. I'm either smiling or sticking my tongue out. I think the meaning of this for me was just to have fun and be happy, which is what I'm doing.

Assignment#20: "Wrapped Object"

1. My first idea is to wrap a balloon in yarn, or some sort of string. I might also decide to wrap the balloon in newspaper. I want to do a balloon because I got balloons for my birthday and they are deflating, so now would be a perfect time to try and do that. 2. My second choice, if the balloon one doesn't work, is to wrap a little pot for a plant that I have. If I end up doing this I will probably wrap it so that a plant can still fit in it. I discovered that wrapping something isn't as easy as it seems. I did a small balloon and I still had difficulties, I can't imagine how difficult it must have been to wrap these huge objects. I also discovered that these wrappings started when Christo began wrapping simple things around his house. My inspiration on this project, besides Christo and Jeanne-claude, was when I was a little kid and sometimes I would do an art project that involved wrapping a balloon with either yarn or newspaper. I found it difficult to wrap the
