Before After

For my polar opposites assignment, I chose to do "On vs. Off." I chose to take a photo of a light when it was on, and once when it was off. I had planned to do a Day vs. Night photo, but it was hard to see the night photo and be able to tell what it was. Taking a picture of on and off is a perfect way to represent opposites. It is easy to see which is which and how they are different. The photo where the light is on only shows the light itself. The background turns black because of the focus on the light. The photo where the light is off, the background is able to be seen. The background adds the the effect that the light is off. You can see that there is a light source in the back of this photo that shows what it would look like if the light were on.   Many different ideas came to mind when I was told the assignment was “polar opposites.” For example, I wanted to do “Sunrise vs. Sunset.” I thought that would have been a creative thing to take pictures of. This photo is eye-catching because the light is cornered in the photo. You can see that the light from the Sun is shinning in but it isn't in the actual photo. This has strong composition because it isn't focused on the Sun but the light adds texture to the surroundings. ISO: 32 Shutter speed: 1/173 F-stop: 2.2 Camera Mode: manual This photo is eye-catching because the light that is showing is creating just enough brightness to be able to see the lockers and the rest of the hallway. There is a also a reflection on the lockers, allowing more of the background to be seen. This photo has strong composition because the light is creating an outline toward the end of the hallway. This photo has composition because its lower than the normal human-height perspective. The lines in the photo add to the compositio
