As a kid, David Hockney was always interested in art. He ended up going to the Bradford College of Art for four years. Two years later, he attended graduate school at the Royal College of Art. He moved to California in 1966 and began to fall in love with Los Angeles. The swimming pools in L.A. were something that he loved to paint, as well as the inside and outside of houses. In 1970, he took polaroids of a house and laid them out, creating a series of photos. When he laid them out, he began to paint the image, but soon began to love how the photos looked together. He began to take more and more collections of photos as he started getting into photography more.
Assignment#13: Surreal Image

My concept for the Surreal image was to have a mirror that someone could step into and they would be somewhere else. You can tell that the girl is inside and by stepping into the mirror, she will be outside and walking down a path with palm trees. I chose to do this because sometimes I wish I could step through a mirror and I would be in a different place.

1. The difference between real and surreal is that real shows what something exactly looks like. While surreal shows an idea based off of real things that someone thought of. Surreal normally has a true meaning behind it. Real is something that is true and surreal is something that is imaginative. In a conversation, if someone says "That's so Surreal!" it means that it is something that isn't real. It means that it is so fake that it sounds like a dream. Like for example, if I said I saw an elephant riding the back of a mouse, its surreal because there is no way that could ever happen. 2. Laura Williams I am intrigued by this photo because this photo makes it look as if the girl only has legs, feet, hands, and a head and everything else looks as if it isn't there. Also, you can't see the photographer taking the photo because the only thing in the mirror is the reflection of the grass. Flo
